I Made Sushi Y'all!

Whenever there’s a celebratory meal around here, my first choice is always sushi. I could eat it until I pop!

So I was thrilled to spend this morning in a Sushi Workshop, where I learned how to make it myself.

Cooking wise I’m no gourmet, and we eat out a lot. (Just wanted to make sure your expectations of my cuisine were nice and low.) Also, seems like every time the chef pointed out how NOT to do something, I heard my name.

There were about ten people in the class. We each had individual workstations around a huge kitchen island.

Here’s my station before we got started:

The Menu:

Hand-Pressed Sushi with Shrimp, Smoked Salmon, Tuna and Eel (Nigiri Sushi)
Inside-Out California Rolls (Uramaki Sushi)
Spicy Tuna Rolls and Cucumber Rolls (Hosomaki)
Hand Roll (Temaki)

Here’s my sushi:

It may not be the best looking sushi – but it was DELICIOUS! This class didn’t have grades, but I’m giving myself an A+!

  1. From one sushi lover to another, great job!

  2. sounds fun! kudos for a job well done and trying something new!

  3. Yum! Sounds fun and like something you only see people do on the romantic comedies I'm always renting. (Remember the cooking scene in Hitch?)

  4. I've always wanted to try sushi, you're inspiring me.

    Hope the class was fun.

  5. I am so proud of you for trying something new. It looks delish.

  6. I don't know what you are talking about, PB. That sushi looks d*mn good to me! I give you an A+ as well.

Oh. I see now....you were setting us up. LOL!

  7. Never tried it but you make it look very tempting!

  8. Late to say Yay on sushi. Nice.
